Skin Care Basics

The best skin care is good hygiene and some basic knowledge. Good skin can be accomplished without expensive products. The most basic skin care kit consists of gentle soap and water, moisturizer, sunscreen. Washing your skin with soap generally help you to remove dirt, cosmetics, oils dead skin, and bacteria. For people with dry skin it is commended for them to use soap which contain lipid. Medicated soap is to be avoided by all skin types. All soap has drying effect. Moisturizers help to keep your skin more supple, soft, and smooth.

Sunlight though required for our skin to produce Vitamin, could also be harmful to our skin. Excessive sunlight causes sunburns, premature aging and some types of skin cancers. The use of Suntan lotion is recommendation if you are going to spend a long time under the sun.

The 3 Important Steps

Cleansing

The first step would be cleansing. It is extremely important to clean your face thoroughly to ensure that there are no germs and dirt left on it. It is important to find a cleanser that is suitable for your skin and avoid changing brands. Avoid bar soaps as they tend to dry out the skin. Most cleansers contain oil, water and surefactants. The oil in cleansers dissolves the oil that is present on our face and the surefactants removes the dirt from our face. Cleansing too often would not benefit the skin, once or twice a day would be sufficient. The best way to wash your face is to use warm water to loosen dirt & clogged pores. Use a dime-sized bit of cleanser & gently apply it in a circular motion, then rinse with cool water. Cool water tends to tighten the pores.

Exfoliate

The Second step is to use scrubs to exfoliate the top layer of dead skin cells that dull your complexion. It is reccommended to exfoliate at least once a week to make sure that the dead skin is removed from the face. Doing it too often would result in injuring your skin. Always make sure that you use a gentle scrub with tiny grains. Big grains in cheap scrubs can tear skin and cause more harm than good.

Moisturize

The third step would be to moisturize the skin. Moisturizing the skin is essential no matter what kind of skin you have. It is beneficial to oily skin too as it extracts moisture and draws it into the skin. Moisturizers seals in the moisture and at the same time locks it in the skin keeping it moist and healthy. Over moisturizing can do harm to your skin as it can cause clogged pores.
